The Scottish Hair & Beauty Awards
about.
The Scottish Hair & Beauty Awards (SHABA) is Scotland’s leading gala event celebrating excellence across the hair, beauty, barbering, make-up, and aesthetics industries. Held annually in Glasgow, it brings together professionals and brands from across the country to recognise creativity, innovation, and business success. As Head Designer, I was responsible for overseeing the event’s visual identity, from branding and print materials to digital campaigns and on-site signage. My work aimed to reflect the prestige and excitement of Scotland’s biggest industry celebration through cohesive, high-impact design.

challenge.
When I joined SHABA, the goal was to elevate the event’s branding to reflect its growing status as Scotland’s premier industry awards. The existing visuals didn’t fully capture the sophistication and scale of a black-tie gala, so the challenge was to reimagine the brand identity with a more refined and prestigious tone. This involved transitioning to a sleek, elegant sans-serif typographic style and introducing bold, visually impactful imagery across all marketing materials. The aim was to create a consistent, high-end aesthetic that felt aspirational and instantly recognisable, setting a new standard for how the event represented Scotland’s best in hair and beauty.

result.
The rebrand successfully transformed SHABA into a standout, high-profile event. The new visual direction was praised by attendees, sponsors, and industry partners for its sophistication and impact, helping to attract a wider audience and enhance the event’s credibility. The cohesive black-tie branding created a lasting impression across both digital and print channels, firmly establishing SHABA as a symbol of prestige, celebration, and excellence within the sector.
